How do I dispose of Paint?
Add kitty litter or waste paint hardener to the paint. When it is dry, place on the curbside uncovered next to your garbage. It is very important the hardened paint is uncovered, so the collection crew can see it is not a hazard.

Non-rechargeable household batteries: place in household garbage.
Rechargeable batteries: place in the collection box in the foyer at Town Hall.
Vehicle Batteries: Take to a local scrap metal dealer or any vehicle battery retail outlet.

The company you purchase your new appliance from will most likely take the old one away at your request. Otherwise, the Village recycles these items. Scheduling is necessary. Call 591-6044 or e-mail gnilsson@irvingtonny.gov to schedule. Leave your address, telephone number and type of appliance. The DPW picks up these items curbside on Thursdays. Ensure all doors are removed or securely tied.

Public Works picks up these items curbside on Thursdays. Note: Computer hard drives, fax machines and printers should be disposed of in the regular garbage.

To report a street light out at night or on during the day, please call the Irvington Police Department at (914) 591-8080 and give them the street name and pole number.

Does the Village have Bulk Pickup Days for larger items like furniture?
No, dispose of these items curbside on your regular garbage collection day. We do request if you have a large amount of this material, that you spread it out over a few collection days. If the large item you have is recyclable, e.g. metal filing cabinet, please call 591-6044 or e-mail gnilsson@irvingtonny.gov to schedule for a Thursday pickup.

No, it is the responsibility of the homeowner or contractor performing such work to dispose of the construction/renovation debris.

There is a dead animal in my backyard. Will the Public Works Department take it away?
Yes, if you place it in a suitable container (plastic bag) and place it curbside. The Public Works Department is prohibited by law to work on private property. If it is a large animal, such as a deer, you might need to call a landscape contractor.
