Preparations are underway in anticipation of the arrival of Hurricane Sandy early Monday morning. Forecasts currently show the potential for heavy rainfall and damaging winds. As a result, we urge residents to bring in or secure lawn furniture or any other portable, lightweight items around your home.
The Irvington DPW has made sand available to residents to fill sand bags. The sand is located in the southern end of the Metro North parking lot on South Astor Street, adjacent to the Village’s salt storage shed. Shovels will be available. Please bring your own sand bags.
Because of the timing of the storm, Irvington DPW is requesting that residents be absolutely certain that garbage/recycling collection has not been cancelled prior to putting containers out by the curb. Information about garbage/recycling collection will be posted to the Village web site.
In the event of power outages residents are urged to contact Con Edison directly 1-800 75CONED (1800-752-6633), even if your neighbor has already called. The data gathered by these reports is extremely valuable to Con Edison. Please DO NOT CALL THE IRVINGTON POLICE DEPARTMENT to report a power outage.
