2010 Award Recipient - Andy Lyons

At the June 7, 2010 Village Board meeting, Mayor Jonathan Siegel presented the 2010 Adele Warnock Good Citizenship Award to Andy Lyons.

Andy Lyons has served the community in a myriad of ways.  As a member of Bridge Street he helped restore the waterfront of Irvington and preserve and repurpose Irvington’s wonderful old industrial buildings that in other communities have been torn down.

This was an early indication of his interest in historic preservation, which he now exercises as the President of the Irvington Historical Society.

Andy chaired the Quadricentennial celebration committee that produced an event that surpassed our expectations.  He led the group in producing a summer “River Day” celebration and then a fall “Lights on Irvington” celebration.  When the challenges of illuminating Village Hall became substantial, Andy kept at it and figured a way to do it.

Andy is the Chairperson of the Architectural Review Board, which meets twice a month.  He is also a member of the Irvington Business Improvement Committee and is at the forefront of efforts to invigorate our business community.

Andy is also a welcome participant during the public comment sessions and hearings at our Village Board meetings regarding Village laws, where he provides polite and reasoned position statements on various issues of importance to Village residents.
