[ARCHIVED] July 4th Fireworks Security Message

Due to ongoing security concerns this year in the New York metropolitan area, the Irvington Police Department, in cooperation with the Recreation and Parks Department, will be implementing measures aimed at keeping the Fourth of July Fireworks safe and fun. These measures apply to Matthiessen Park only.

The park will open at 7 a.m. and will be open all day. Visitors can view the fireworks, as always, from the large lawn area to the left of the pathway. Some areas of the park may be unavailable to the public. The restricted areas will be clearly marked.

In an effort to speed up entry into Matthiessen Park, those without backpacks, coolers, or large packages will be able to enter more quickly. Such items are subject to search upon entry.

Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. If you “See Something…Say Something”!

For any questions, please contact: Irvington Police Department at 914-591-8080
