Fireworks

The excitement is building for our annual fireworks display in Matthiessen Park on Thursday, July 4th at approximately 9:00 p.m.   Please do not call the Irvington Police Department and ask them when the fireworks start – they start when it is dark, again our best guess is around 9pm.    I would like to once again thank the FACE Committee and everyone who supported their events this year for allowing us the fiscal support to have an incredible fireworks celebration on Independence Day.

As we remind you every year, parking will be extremely limited.  So, please plan to walk if possible and if you must drive, please carpool.  Very little parking will be available on the west side of the railroad tracks and this is private parking for the restaurants and businesses.  Instead, please plan to park in the Metro-North parking lot at the Irvington Station or up the hill at the Main Street School.  It’s just a short stroll through our Main Street business district.  Feel free to make a stop or two at one of our fine merchants or restaurants along the way!

As always, our ability to put on a fireworks show is heavily dependent on the weather.  I’ve already declared that there will be no rain this Thursday.  However, if my declaration doesn’t work, please visit our web site (irvingtonny.gov) or our social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram for any last-minute announcements.  If the fireworks display is cancelled, our rain date is during Rocktoberfest on September 28.

I am confident that the evening will be safe and fun for all, but please be aware of your surroundings, especially when everyone is leaving at the same time post-fireworks.

Thanks for reading and happy 243rd birthday America!
