[ARCHIVED] Irvington Update - April 14, 2020

Sanitation Pickup and DPW Response

As we alerted on Sunday night, Monday was a rough weather day. We had almost a dozen trees come down that blocked or partially blocked roadways. The members of the Department of Public Works were able to fully complete the day’s sanitation collection routes while responding to these downed trees. Thank you for your dedication and exceptional effort under these challenging circumstances.

Storm Recap

Yesterday’s stormy weather caused nearly 26,000 Con Edison customers in Westchester to lose power. As of this afternoon, nearly 25,000 customers had been restored, including all customers in Irvington. As a reminder, if you lose power, be sure to report the outage directly to Con Edison. Outage reports can be made online (www.coned.com) or by phone (1-800-75-CONED / 1-800-752-6633). You can also use the Con Edison app to report your outage (iPhone or Android).

Please do not call the Irvington Police Department to report your outage. Reports of other storm damage (road closures, limbs down in roadways) go to the non-emergency number of the Irvington Police Department - 914-591-8080. Emergency calls go to 911.

New Executive Order for Face Coverings

Governor Cuomo recently issued an Executive Order requiring that "for all essential businesses or entities, any employees who are present in the workplace shall be provided and shall wear face coverings when in direct contact with customers or members of the public. Businesses must provide, at their expense, such face coverings for their employees. This provision may be enforced by local governments or local law enforcement as if it were pursuant to section 12 or 12-b of the Public Health Law. This requirement shall be effective Wednesday April 15th at 8pm."

For more information about why face coverings are now required, where previously they were not, please see the explanations issued by the CDC:
