Con Edison is working to restore power throughout the County, including about one-quarter of Irvington residents without service. Yesterday’s storm produced enormous damage throughout our region, leaving nearly 100,000 without power in Westchester County, ranking as the second most outages, behind only Sandy. Currently, Con Edison crews are prioritizing road clearance and critical facilities, and will then begin residential power restoration. Village DPW personnel are standing by to clear roads and the Irvington Police are tracking the many downed wires and closed roads. But, like many other communities, there are currently no Con Edison crews working in Irvington. We have not yet been provided with an overall timetable for restoring electrical service, so it is likely that full restoration will take many days, and residents should plan accordingly.
Please continue to report outages directly to Con Edison at 1-800-75-CONED and stay clear of all downed power lines. The outage map at outagemap.coned.com will be updated with restoration times for each neighborhood as they are determined. Starting today, Con Edison is distributing ice at two locations in Westchester.
As cleanup continues, please exercise caution while traveling. A number of roads remain closed awaiting a cut and clear crew from Con Edison.
All the best,
Brian C. Smith, Mayor
