Absentee voting

Important information about the November 3, 2020 General Election

ABSENTEE BALLOTS

Governor Cuomo has signed into law election reforms that will make it easier for New Yorkers to vote and be counted in November. Two of the measures specifically address the application process for absentee ballots.

Under the new law, voters can now submit an application for an absentee ballot to the Westchester County Board of Elections immediately. Also, the new law gives voters the right to request an absentee ballot due to risk of illness to themselves or others. This effectively means that if a voter has a concern about contracting COVID-19, they can indicate that as a valid reason for requesting an absentee ballot.

To download an application for an absentee ballot and for important details on how to apply, visit the Westchester County Board of Elections website. Absentee ballot application forms are also available in the Irvington Village Clerk’s office. In addition, the New York State Board of Elections has launched an online Absentee Ballot Application Portal, through which registered voters can apply now for an absentee ballot. The Portal can be found at https://absenteeballot.elections.ny.gov/.  Voters can click through the web form to request an absentee ballot, which will be sent in the mail.

EARLY VOTING

Westchester County registered voters are eligible to cast an early voting ballot. Registered voters will be able to cast their ballot at ANY of the 17 designated early voting locations during specific hours between October 24, 2020 and November 1, 2020. For a detailed list of the early voting locations and the specific dates and times, please visit the Westchester County Board of Elections website.
