The Board of Trustees will be considering whether to pursue condemnation of Strawberry Lane so as to allow the Village to convert it to a public road. The discussion, which will include the Village Attorney, will take place at the upcoming public work session on Wednesday, August 10 at 7pm.
The recent development proposal by Wilder Balter for the Maxon property has brought to light significant uncertainties about the ownership of Strawberry Lane. This is compounded by safety concerns expressed by the NYS Department of Transportation about the sight lines turning onto Broadway. With undetermined ownership, there is no reasonable way to address any safety concerns. In addition, the lack of ownership of Strawberry Lane seriously hampers the Board’s goal of encouraging affordable, multi-family in this area of the Village.
The work session on Wednesday is an opportunity for the Board of Trustees to learn what the process would be to make Strawberry Lane a village road.
The meeting will be held on Zoom at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/88970950317 or it will be streamed live and archived on the Village’s YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/irvingtonny
