I want to thank all those that attended or participated in our annual September 11 ceremonies in the Village of Irvington. I am always proud of how our village observes that solemn day in a poignant, yet understated, way. I was especially moved by Kevin Gallagher’s accounts on the day. Kevin is a volunteer in the Irvington Fire Department, but he was also a member of the NYPD back in 2001 (as well as the United States Coast Guard Reserve). This gave him a unique perspective on the events of the day, events that are still so raw and emotional. If you haven’t heard Kevin’s account of 9/11 and the days afterward, the link is below. I am sure you will agree that they were quite moving and another reminder to never forget.
