On the evening of January 5th, the Village Board of Trustees honored long-time, dedicated volunteer James "Jimmy" Brennen for his many years of volunteer service to the community. Jim was honored for his 50 years of service in the Irvington Volunteer Fire Department. He also served in the Irvington Volunteer Ambulance Corps for 23 years, including 5 years as its Captain, along with over 20 years of service on the Irvington Recreation and Parks Advisory Committee. Jim and his wife Sharon were there, along with a score of friends and family to show their support.
To top off the night, the Trustees also honored and thanked NYS Assemblyman Thomas Abinanti for his many years of dedicated public service and especially for his tireless advocacy for the Village of Irvington. Assemblyman Abinanti always exhibited a willingness to work across party lines to get things done as he served in the New York State Assembly, the Westchester County Board of Legislators and the Greenburgh Town Board.
It was a nice night to celebrate these two dedicated individuals who helped make Irvington a better place. Mayor Smith announced that the Town Hall Clock Tower would be lit Green and White for the rest of the night in their honor.
