Dear Resident:
The Quadricentennial Committee is planning a fall celebration event scheduled for the weekend of September 12 and 13, 2009. The Irvington School District Administration, Recreation & Parks Department, Library, Historical Society, and other committee members have been discussing a weekend of family activities and events to celebrate our history. While we are still in the planning stages, below are a few of the ideas we have discussed.
· A plan to illuminate Village Hall in the fashion and style of the tricentennial celebration in 1909.
· A plan to host a vintage Village Fair on Saturday featuring:
o Historical exhibits throughout downtown Irvington
o Costumed re-enactors
o Street vendors
o Evening fireworks display in the park
· A 1909 themed family picnic in the park on Sunday featuring:
o Music of the early 1900’s
o Food vendors
o Games of the 1900’s
o Storytelling
The Quadricentennial Committee values your input and participation in this event. We are holding a meeting on Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. at the Irvington Library and would welcome your presence.
Please let us know if you can attend.
Thank you,
Quadricentennial Committee
