Dear neighbors:
I remind all of my neighbors that the Village of Irvington is still under a state of emergency. While the worst of the storm is past, I urge you to stay home if at all possible. We need to keep the roads clear so our Department of Public Works and Con Edison can complete the important tasks of clearing debris and restoring power. I know this is a difficult time for all of us and after being indoors for an extended period, we want to get out and walk around to assess the damage first hand. Please resist that urge!
It is also not safe to walk with all the downed power lines and damaged trees that continue to lose limbs. The Aqueduct trail is especially dangerous due to the large amount of mature trees. In addition to the Aqueduct trail, the waterfront is also a very dangerous area. Please do not walk or drive down to look at the waterfront. Again, there are numerous downed wires, mixed with the pooled water, it makes for a hazardous list.
If you have not called Con Edison to report a power outage, please do so at 1-800-75-CONED (1-800-752-6633). TREAT ALL DOWNED WIRES AS LIVE WIRES AND STAY AWAY! We have a liaison from ConEd at Village Hall and are coordinating restoration of power as soon as possible.
As a reminder, all Village offices are closed today, including the Library, but we do anticipate them being re-opened tomorrow. Village officials and I continue to work with state and county officials as we recover from this storm. If you have questions or concerns, please email me at bsmith@blueridgelp.com.
Thank you for your cooperation and I wish you the best of luck in your recovery efforts.
Best,
Brian C. Smith, Mayor
