On Saturday June 14, the Village of Irvington will be celebrating its Historic District. Please consider bringing your local Irvington community group or school organization to Main Street on June 14, and add to a lively spirit of fun during the Celebration.

Your group may set up a table on the sidewalk, to display or demonstrate an activity or event, or sell crafts, art or home-made products. Music could be played or a simple theatrical event could be performed. Alternatively, you could “walk-about” to highlight an activity or event. You need not stay the full afternoon.

The "Irvington Historic District Celebration" will include a free trolley, guided walks, activities at the Irvington Historical Society and in Village Hall, in front of the library and in front of Sunnyside Federal Savings, and a fire-truck display at the firehouse. The ceremony will be in Scenic Hudson Park from 10:30 -11:30, but the rest of the day's activities will be centered on Main Street. Go to the homepage at www.irvingtonny.gov to see the schedule.

Activities or tables need to be tasteful and safe and not disturb local businesses or visitors, and of course allow for easy passage along the sidewalk. Please respect local businesses by relocating if requested by an owner, and avoid duplicating the goods and services of our own Main Street merchants. The area on the North side of Main Street, between Village Hall and Main Street School can accommodate multiple groups. Visitors will love meeting you!

Your group does not need to register your plan, and you may cancel out as you wish due to poor weather. You need to provide your own table and materials and your own creativity of course! You would leave the area as you found it, of course.

Feel free to email your questions or plans: ckehoe@irvingtonny.gov.
